Chairman of the All Progressives Committee (APC) Presidential Screening Committee, Chief Odigie John Oyegun has said that the committee did not screen former president Goodluck Jonathan, contrary to reports making the round.
Former president, Goodluck Jonathan has been linked to the 2023 elections for months now and it was suggested he would run under the APC as a preferred candidate over Tinubu, Yemi Osinbajo and other Southern aspirants.
Rumours further suggested that Jonathan was among the 23 presidential aspirants screened by the APC presidential screening committee but the chairman of the committee has now laid the rumours to rest.
Oyegun, while addressing journalists also hinted that only 13 out of 23 presidential aspirants were cleared as they were the only ones found “youthful”.
The APC presidential primary will hold next week in order to decide the aspirant who will fly the party’s flag.
