Fernandes will wear the No.8 jersey instead of the No.18 jersey for the 2022/23 season.
Juan Mata, Fernandes’ close friend, vacated the no.8 shirt at Manchester United.
Mata left Manchester United this summer after the end of the 2021/22 season.
Manchester United made the announcement on its website on Thursday.
In 2020, Fernandes joined Manchester United from Sporting CP.
