According to NTVSpor, Fenerbahce have terminated Mesut Ozil’s contract after he was frozen out of the first-team.
As a result, the former Arsenal playmaker will be a free agent this summer.
Ozil had not played for the Turkish Super Lig side since March 20, when he was dropped due to fitness concerns.
That squabble occurred under interim head coach Ismail Kartal, and there is no way for him to return under new manager Jorge Jesus, who has also left him out of his squad.
However, it is understood that Ozil’s departure was mutually agreed upon.
Ozil appeared in 36 Fenerbahce matches, scoring nine goals and assisting on three others.
The 33-year-old left Arsenal in January 2021 to join Turkey, but his stint was short-lived, and he was forced to train alone after being exiled.
