Usman Baba, the Inspector-General of Police, promised Nigerians a safe Sallah celebration on Thursday.
Baba directed police commissioners to beef up security in their respective states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The IGP, Muyiwa Adejobi, assured Force Public Relations Officers of continued efforts to reduce crime and criminality.
The IGP directed Tactical Commanders, Chiefs of Police (CPs), and their supervisory Assistant Inspectors General of Police (AIGs) to increase security in advance of Eid-el-Kabir.
Baba directed them to avoid any potentially dangerous situations in their Areas of Responsibility (AoR) all through the season and beyond.
The IGP instructed commands to conduct critical assessments of threat-prone areas, extensive stop-and-search operations, black spot raids, and other anti-crime strategies.
Baba also warned deployed personnel to be professional and mindful of citizens’ fundamental rights.
While lauding Muslim faithful on the upcoming Eid-el-Kabir celebration in 2022, the IGP urged them to be security conscious.
