Mr. Haitham Al-Ghais, the incoming Secretary-General of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), has expressed his condolences on the death of Mohammed Sanusi Barkindo.
Mrs. Al-Ghais stated on the Organization’s Twitter account on Wednesday that Barkindo has led OPEC during extremely turbulent times for the global oil market.
“Barkimdo’s remarkable role and valuable contributions, combined with our Organization’s long history of dialogue and cooperation, place us in a strong position to continue supporting global oil market stability and balance,” Al-Ghais wrote.
The incoming Secretary-General then expressed his heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, colleagues, loved ones, Nigeria, and the entire OPEC Family.
The late Mohammed Sanusi Barkindo’s body was laid to rest in Yola, the capital of Adamawa State, amid tears.
Muhammad Musa Bello, FCT Minister, led the Federal Government delegation to the funeral.
