Raheem Sterling’s former Manchester City teammates, Kevin de Bruyne and Riyad Mahrez, have paid tribute to the England international ahead of his move to Chelsea.
They wished him luck in his new assignment in West London.
Sterling joined Chelsea on Wednesday from Manchester City.
The 27-year-old becomes Chelsea’s first signing under new manager Todd Boehly.
The former Liverpool forward agreed to a five-year contract worth more than £300,000 per week as he returned to London to join the Blues.
In response, De Bruyne said in an Instagram post that Sterling would be a huge loss for Pep Guardiola’s side after scoring 131 goals in 339 games.
De Bruyne wrote: “We came seven years ago together to this club to win trophies together and play good football and we achieved that. Was a pleasure to play with you. Wishing you all the best in future bro.”
Also reacting, Mahrez also posted a picture of him and Sterling holding up the Premier League title, with the caption: “Countless memories. Will miss you my brother.”
