Cristiano Ronaldo will not go with Manchester United on their preseason tour of Thailand, the club said on Friday, due to his ongoing “family matter.”
The flight to Bangkok, which departed Manchester at 4:30 PM UK time today, will not include the 37-year-old.
Cristiano Ronaldo will not be traveling to Thailand with the group, according to the statement, as he has been given further time off to attend to family matters.
Prior to traveling to Australia for matches against Melbourne Victory, Crystal Palace, and Aston Villa, United will play Liverpool on July 12.
On July 25, Erik ten Hag’s team is scheduled to return to Manchester.
Ronaldo is desperate to leave Old Trafford this summer to join a club playing Champions League football next season.
