According to Mundo Deportivo, Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe of Paris Saint Germain have reportedly clashed over the future of their teammate Neymar.
Messi wants Neymar to stay at Parc des Princes, while Mbappe believes he should leave.
Neymar has been heavily linked with a summer move away from PSG to reunite with his former manager, Thomas Tuchel, at Chelsea.
Mbappe recently renewed his contract with PSG, signing a new contract that will keep him at the club until the summer of 2025, publicly rejecting Real Madrid in the process.
Many believe that Mbappe’s decision to stay has given him unprecedented power among the Parisians’ shot-callers, and that one of his first acts will be to force Neymar out.
Regardless of what PSG wants, it is believed that Neymar will find it extremely difficult to leave the French Ligue 1 champions.
Neymar’s contract runs until the summer of 2027, and parting ways with with the French giants would be prohibitively expensive.
The 30-year-old earns $32 million per season, but his form no longer justifies that sum.
