NCoS heightens security at Lagos prisons after Kuje jailbreak

Following the Kuje jailbreak, the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) has increased security in Lagos State.

In the state, the NCoS operates two facilities: Ikoyi Custodial Centre and Kirikiri (Medium, Female, and Maximum) Security Prison.

The reinforcement of security was confirmed by NCoS Lagos spokesman Rotimi Oladokun on Thursday.

According to Oladokun, the service personnel have been placed on high alert.

The prison administration stated that it was collaborating with security agencies to prevent any breaches.

The NCoS advised criminal elements planning an attack to bury such a plan.

“Nigerians would remember how men of the Lagos NCoS and other agencies foiled an attempted jail break by some inmates of Ikoyi Custodial Centre in October 2020.

“The inmates wanted to take advantage of the #EndSARS protest and enforced curfew to stage a jailbreak”, he told NAN.

Oladokun, on the other hand, advised residents of the state to go about their daily lives without fear.
