Ashleigh Plumptre of Leicester City trained separately from her teammates on Wednesday as the Super Falcons wrapped up preparations for their crucial Group C match against Botswana at the 2022 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations.
Plumptre was on the field for the entire 2-1 loss to Banyana Banyana of South Africa on Monday.
The centre-back will have to take a late fitness test to determine her readiness to face the debutants.
The Super Falcons suffered a major setback on Wednesday when star forward Asisat Oshoala was ruled out of the competition due to a knee ligament injury she sustained in the game against Banyana Banyana.
Randy Waldrum’s team will look to get their title defense back on track when they face Botswana on Thursday at Rabat’s Prince Moulay Al-Hassan Stadium (today).
Botswana leads Group C on goal difference after a 4-2 win over fellow debutant Burundi on Monday.
The game will start at 9 p.m. Nigeria time.
