Chelsea has announced the signing of Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling.
On Wednesday, the Blues issued a brief statement on social media confirming Sterling’s arrival.
With the addition of the England international, Todd Boehly, Chelsea’s new owner, has made his first major signing since taking over the club from Roman Abramovich.
The Blues are expected to pay £50 million for the 27-year-old.
Sterling agreed to a five-year deal worth significantly more than the £300,000 per week he was paid by City and more than the £290,000 per week N’Golo Kante earns at Stamford Bridge, putting him first as the club’s highest-paid player.
There is an option to extend his contract for another season, putting him in the top three earners in the Premier League.
