Cristiano Ronaldo has been named as the Manchester United Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year for 2021/22.

The Portuguese ace, despite United’s poor performance this season, enjoyed an impressive individual performance following his return to Manchester United from Juventus.

Ronaldo, 37, scored 24 goals in 39 appearances for United across all competitions, including hat-tricks in back-to-back home matches against Tottenham and Norwich.

With the current award, Ronaldo has now won the award of being Manchester United’s player of the year for the fourth time, coming in 2003/04, 2006/07 and the 2007/08 campaigns.

Ronaldo, since his return to United, has been impressive in front of goal and has contributed greatly to the team despite failing to qualify for the Champions League.

Ronaldo is now tied with goalkeeper David de Gea as the most successful player in the history of the accolade since it was first handed out to Brian McClair in 1988.
