Emeka Offor was birthed in Kafanchan , Kaduna State on the 10th of February 1959 to the family of Me and Mrs Bennett Offor. He is one of the richest Nigerian businessmen from Eastern Nigeria. Emeka Offor is a serial entrepreneur, philanthropist and an oil mogul. Sir Emeka Offor is presently the Chairman of The Chrome Group. 

Education

Emeka Offor is a native of Irefi Oraifite in Ekwusigo local government area of Anambra in Nigeria. Emeka went to the Eziukwu primary school in Aba, Abia State, from there, he proceeded to St. Michael’s primary school at Ogbete in Enugu. 

After he was finished with his primary school education, he proceeded to Merchant of Light School and from there to Abbot Boys high school, Ihiala, Anambra State. On May 10, 2019, Sir Emeka Offor proceeded to Nnamdi Azikiwe University where he achieved his honorary doctorate in entrepreneurship 

Personal Life

Sir Emeka Offor has three wives. He had his first marriage in 1982, his first wife is Nkiru Offor. Twenty years after, he had a second marriage in 2002 to Joy Offor and finally he had his third marriage to Adaora Vivian Ufondu. His third marriage must have been due to business interests as Adaora’s father is the renowned businessman in Anambra state called Chief Alex  Ufondu who had also started up several thriving businesses in the state.

Sir Emeka is an entrepreneur and oil tycoon. His source of income ranges from his involvement on the oil and gas industry, insurance, banking sector, power sector, tourism and telecommunication sectors, hotels and also logistics amongst many others. 

Sir Emeka Offor began his career as a staff at the Railways Lines Nigeria Ltd in Delta. The company imports bitumen goods and he had a job as a transport officer. After working with them for a while, he decided to set up his own business named Chrome Group where he would deliver bitumen to big corporations such as Julius Berger and others. The subsidiaries of Sir Emeka Offor’s Chrome Group include Global Scan Systems limited, Kingsbury Limited, Kiss 99?9 FM, Nimek Investments Ltd, Blaze 91.5 FM, Interstate Electric limited, Inland containers Nigeria Ltd , Kaztec Limited, Star Crest Nigeria and so on. 

Sir Emeka Okafor was given the position as the chairman of Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) because the power sector that gave birth to EEDC was privatized.  

Sir Emeka Offor is also the founder of the Sir Emeka Offor Foundation popularly known as SEOF. The foundation is actively involved in charity works and is a non-governmental organization. The foundation has a registration under the Companies and Allied Matters Act in 2006 to enable individuals to fend and support themselves without being dependent. 

The Sir Emeka Offor Foundation is actively on a mission to reduce the rate at which the less privilege in the country are going through difficult times and therefore they are dedicated to making provision of necessary assistance in different aspects like development, skill acquisition and starting up businesses and cooperative societies. This charitable foundation has helped a lot of Nigerians to through their different programmes such as the education programme, infrastructure development programme, youth empowerment programme, widows cooperative programme and also their health service programme. Sir Emeka Offor is also one of the premier Knights in Oraifite, Anambra State. 

Awards And Recognitions

Sir Emeka Okafor had several awards and recognitions such as Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion Knight of Saint Christopher. In 2012, he got an award as the philanthropist of the year from the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Anambra State Council. Also in 2012, he was awarded the Humanity award from the Kpakpando Foundation for physically challenged persons. 

Sir Emeka Offor also got an award as the Dr Alex Ekwueme Award of Excellence for his incredible dedication to education in Nigeria and Africa through the Sir Emeka Offor Foundation (SEOF). 

In 2013, he was also given the Eminent Service Award by the Nigerian Library Association (NLA), and the Rotary International (RI) for his work in ensuring the elimination of polio and in the donation of books.
