The Presidential Candidate of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has denied and condemned rumours claiming that he would pick a fellow Muslim as his running mate.
Tinubu made the statement while addressing journalists yesterday at the APC governorship rally in Ekiti State.
The APC presidential flagbearer distanced himself from the idea that a Muslim would be his vice, claiming that rumour-mongers and undemocratic elements who are already scared of his imminent victory at the polls in 2023 are trying very hard.
When quizzed by journalists, Tinubu stressed that the vice president slot belongs to the Northeastern region of the country and more importantly, Christians. He however claimed consultations are still ongoing in order to decide on his VP.
Bola Tinubu also stressed that the choice of VP will not be imposed on him either by any group, institution or individual. He affirmed that he would choose his vice president himself and the individual will favour Nigerians greatly.
Although Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu had earlier disowned the issue of a Muslim Muslim ticket even before he was elected as the flagbearer of the APC while reacting to a fake viral text message alleging his interest in a Muslim vice president.
