Ukrainian officials have urged those who remain in the Donetsk region to flee to safer areas.
This is due to Russian forces moving closer to the eastern territories.
“Russia has turned the entire Donetsk region into a hot spot where it is dangerous to remain for civilians.
“I call on everyone to evacuate. Evacuation saves lives,” the head of the Donetsk regional military administration, Pavlo Kyrylenko said, as reported by CNN
The warning came in response to a missile strike in Toretsk on Wednesday.
Despite the fact that Ukrainian forces still control 45 percent of Donetsk, the Russians have shifted their focus to Kramatorsk and Sloviansk after seizing Lysychansk in the neighboring Luhansk region.
According to Vadym Liakh, the head of the Sloviansk military-civilian administration, the majority of people have already left the city due to the renewed and increased strikes.
