The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) has declared that it would mobilize its members and work against any Muslim-Muslim ticket in the 2023 presidential elections.
According to Bishop Wale Oke, the National President of the PFN, Pentecostal Christians across Nigeria will vote massively against any political party that dares to fly a Muslim-Muslim ticket.
Oke who spoke to journalists after the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting in Lagos said the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) is clearly against a Muslim-Muslim ticket as ”it is against the principles of fairness, balance, equity and justice.”
“Muslim-Muslim ticket means over 54 per cent of the population will be marginalised and shut out. If the party doesn’t listen to us, then they will meet up at the polls,” the PFN National President stressed.
Oke said Pentecostal churches across Nigeria have picked Sunday, June 26, as “PVC day” to rally members to register for the Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).
He also mentioned that Pentecostal members might be denied from places of worship and partaking in Holy Communion if they fail to show their PVCs
Oke claims the motive behind the mobilisation is to prepare Pentecostal churches in delivering “block Christian votes against any party that presents the Muslim-Muslim ticket.”
He said Pentecostal Christians will also intercede for Nigeria on June 26 because ” prayer remains our biggest weapon for God to rescue the nation.”
Oke stated that PFN leaders will meet after June 26 to take a definite position on how Christians should vote in 2023.
He however stated the body will engage all the political parties with a view to hearing their programmes and manifestos for possible support ahead of 2023.
