Atiku Abubakar, presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, has accused Festus Keyamo, Minister of State for Labour and Employment, of attempting to distort history.
Keyamo claimed that the PDP presidential candidate was one of the first Nigerians to jump ship and abandon the June 23 cause.
He claimed that Atiku, former President Olusegun Obasanjo, and the majority of the current presidential candidates had no involvement in the June 12 struggle.
Only Bola Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, played a key role in the June 12 struggle, according to Keyamo.
To that end, Keyamo stated that Tinubu should be given the right to rule Nigeria in 2023.
In response, Atiku dismissed Keyamo’s claim that he had abandoned the June 12 struggle.
His response was contained in a tweet by his Media Aide, Paul Ibe.
Ibe tweeted: “2023: Atiku, June 12 And Keyamo’s Attempt To Rewrite History
“The events of the June 12 crisis are too well documented for anyone to seek to distort it. Keyamo told a blatant lie when he said Atiku “abandon(ed) June 12″. Atiku never abandoned June 12.”
