Daniyan Ojo was sentenced to death by an Ondo State High Court for setting fire to his wife Dorcas Daniyan.
The 50-year-old convict, a welder, was found guilty of the crime after setting fire to their home and locking the wife inside a room while she slept.
On September 14, 2019, he was said to have committed the crime on lrese Road in Shagari Village, Akure, the state capital.
After committing the crime, he was apprehended by men from the state police command and later arraigned in court.
The case was argued in court for three years by both prosecuting and defense counsel before the court issued its decision.
Justice Adegboyega Adebusoye, who delivered the verdict, stated that the prosecution had proven the case against Ojo beyond a reasonable doubt and sentenced him to death by hanging.
