Colombia singer, Shakira and Barcelona cum Spanish defender, Gerard Pique have split after being together for 11 years.
The couple have been together for 11 years until recently when news filtered that the “Hips don’t Lie” crooner caught her Barcelona boyfriend cheating.
The long time lovers released a joint statement on the matter, asking fans and the media to respect their privacy for the sake of their children.
“We regret to confirm that we are separating. We ask for privacy at this moment for the well-being of our children, who are our maximum priority,” they said Saturday. “Thank you in advance for your understanding and respect.”
There were initial speculations that Pique cheated on Shakira with fellow Barcelona’s player mother, Gavi but the media dispelled the rumour.
Shakira and Pique both have two sons together.
